5800 Owners, Are You Happy?

With the news that Nokia  are set to release a 5800 Comes With Music Edition at the end of the month for just £299.99, the question to many of you is….. how do you feel about it if you already own a 5800?.

The 5800 was expected to launch with Comes With Music from the start but this never happened and with the Comes With Music hanset selection starting off poor on just a 2G Nokia 5310 sales of the service have been pretty poor until now, but at least the N95 8GB and N96 have been added to the list.

If you bought a 5800 already it is pretty safe to guess you like your music on the move because that is what the phone is all about, but how do you feel now that after already spending your cash on the original version, for just £50 more you could have waited and got UNLIMITED music downloads for a whole year.

Orange recently announced they were going to be selling the 5800 CWM version from June on a 24 month contract which is great for those people who have not already purchased.

For me personally I think Comes With Music would be a great service if they also sold a subscription code for a set price giving you 1 year of music downloads.  All you would need to do is get the code, hook up your selected Nokia handset to Nokia Music and hey presto, you have a CWM phone of your choice, plus also helping make legal music downloads more popular.

Do you think this will happen, and how do you feel about the 5800 now coming with a year’s worth of unlimited music downloads….. comments welcome below.

Pre-Order N97 & Comes With Music 5800

May 18, 2009 by Dan Carter

Nokia UK Online Store is now allowing pre-orders on both the N97 in White and Black, plus the 5800 as a ‘Comes With Music’ handset,

The biggest story here is the 5800 Comes With Music addition as this was going to be the original version that launched many months ago but was held off.  With the 5800 selling like hot cakes all around the world, is this the turning point for a previously poor take up of Nokia’s Comes With Music Service?

picture-3

Costing just £50 more than a normal boxed 5800 so costing £299.99, you will get 1 year unlimited music downloads to play on the 5800 or your computer.  Personally I think the Comes With Music idea is great but was not launched as well as it would, not helped with the poor selection of handsets available.  So come on Nokia, next step is offering the Comes With Music package without a phone for a single price!.

The next bit of news is you can also Pre-Order the Nokia N97 in either Black or White for a retail price of £499.99.  Considering the N96 came out at around £600 and this offers much more, maybe Nokia are onto a winner here?.

So are you going to buy a 5800 CWM or a N97, if so please comment below as why you have decided to do so and share the love with other Nokia fans

Nokia 5800 Comes With Music On Orange

May 13, 2009 by Dan Carter

Just found this news over at Pocket Lint and thought it would interest a lot of people.

Orange has become the first operator in the UK to offer Nokia’s Comes with Music service exclusively on the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.

The Comes with Music device will be available from Orange across a selection of 2-year (as opposed to Nokia’s usual 1-year offering) Orange pay monthly price plans and upgrades from Friday 29 May.

In addition, the Nokia 5800 Comes With Music will be available exclusively to Orange customers in black and silver.

With five Comes with Music price plans, prices start from £24.77 and go up to £44.04 with various amounts of minutes and texts included.

Consumers will be able to download as much music as they like for the length of the two-year contract and can keep that music once that period ends either on the phone, or on their PC, or both.

Comes With Music 25 – £25 a Month (200mins/300Texts/Unlimited Music)
Comes With Music 30 – £30 a Month (400mins/300Texts/Unlimited Music)
Comes With Music 35 – £35 a Month (600mins/500Texts/Unlimited Music)
Comes With Music 40 – £40 a Month (900mins/500Texts/Unlimited Music)
Comes With Music 45 – £45 a Month (1200mins/500Texts/Unlimited Music)

Before now only the 5310, N95 8GB and the N96 were available and Nokia have had very poor take up of the unlimited music service.  UK operator ‘3UK’ offered the N95 8GB with Comes With Music for £35 a month but again this has failed to take off.

However now the 5800 is a Comes With Music device surely this will be what consumers want, a great touch screen with plenty of features plus  unlimited music downloads!

Nokia 5900 Leaked?

May 8, 2009 by Dan Carter

This post was just found at GSMHelpdesk and looks to be a 5800 replacement, the Nokia 5900

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is extremely popular, the “first” touchscreen device of Nokia has found its way to the shops and sells well among the younger generation. On one hand because of her design and functionality, on the other hand due to her very sharp price. Today we spotted the first photos of the 5800 at the website PConline. The first photos and details are very promising.

The design of the Nokia 5900 XpressMusic is not exactly overwhelming and not really innovative. But hey, that is also a difficult thing with a touchscreen phone because almost the entire surface is taken up by the display. Something very distinctive is that the display seems to be larger than the display of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and that the device has a camera lens in the upper corner. Is that a hint for 3G support? We think it is.

Luckily, the design looks a little better at the back. It might look a little girly at first sight, but if we know Nokia well many different colours of the device will eventually come to the market. The the touchscreen candybar is equipped with a musicplayer may be self-explanatory. If the device has the same sound quality as the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, many would be more than satisfied with the device.

For now there are no extra details about the device. When we get to know more details of the Nokia 5900 XpressMusic we will let you know of course.

Credit to GSMHelpdesk for the post!

Also if you take a look at the back of the white model (photo above) it appears this phone has the Kick-Stand seen on the N96 which is perfect for watching widescreen videos!.

Nokia Photo Browser (Beta)

March 31, 2009 by Dan Carter

Nokia Beta Labs have just posted a cool little beta application for the Nokia 5800 which allows you to zoom into photos, uses face detection when browsing your photos and also has a really nice animated scrolling effect.

The Nokia Photo Browser is photo browsing application as name suggest. It’s designed to be easy to use application, when ever you want quickly browse through your images. User interface is designed to give fast access to all you images. Photo browsing should be fun! That is why Photo Browser introduces new ways to do photo viewing like; “Face browsing” which uses face detection technology to find people faces from pictures and just by finger flick you can browse people faces in image. Other cool feature is “MagGlass” magnifier, which makes image zooming to feel and look more real and analog.

Nokia Photo Browser is still prototype application and it has some limitations. We are developing new features and improving the usability continuously. If you have Nokia S60 5.0 phone with touch screen like Nokia XpressMusic 5800, give us feed back how we can further develop Photo Browser application. If you don’t have touch screen device yet, wait for a moment. We will release Photo Browser also for Series 60 3.x products soon.

Nokia 5800XM In Flo Rida’s ‘Right Round’

The Nokia 5800 XM has had some great product placement in music videos by Nokia PR.  First was Britney Spears ‘Womanizer’ then came Christina Aguilera’s ‘Keeps Gettin Better’ and now comes ‘Right Round’ by new star Flo Rida.

What is surprising me is the huge amount of backing the 5800 has got, plus if you look around the high streets the 5800 is out of stock most places.

Then look at the Apple iPhone which seems to be a craze that has passed its peak.  Well done Nokia for stepping up to the mark with advertising on this great phone!

This is another big step for World Of Nokia in what is becoming a very fast ride on the Nokia blogging scene.

Expansys.com who are one of the biggest electronic online stores in the UK and who have stores all around the world have a Video section on there site which lets you link to YouTube videos so people looking at products can have a look.

I am quite a frequent customer of Expansys as they seem to get phones in very quickly and although sometimes there is a small premium to get a phone before others is worth it a lot of the time.

Well today i’m proud to tell everyone that the E63 video is at the Number 1 spot and the 5800XM Demo video is sitting at Number 2.

top2big

Yes that’s right BOTH at the top for most viewed video’s this week.

This is a great achievement for a site which is still getting known to many people and a big step in the right direction.

Big thanks to Expansys, also to the viewers who watched the videos and of course to everyone reading this and for visiting the site because with out you the site would not exist.

Nokia 5800 In New Britney Video

October 12, 2008 by Dan Carter

Many of us Nokia fans were very disappointed by the news the recently announced Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone (aka Tube) was delayed until Q1 2009 because of the Comes With Music partnership.

Well today i got a nice surprise to share with everyone.  On checking out the new Britney Spears video ‘Womanizer’ I noticed the 5800 makes an appearance and looks really nice (although not a patch on the rest of the video!)

Here are some screen shots but why not take a look for yourself at http://www.britneyspears.com but i must add this is not for viewing at work or for people under a certain age as Miss Spears gets a little got under the collar.

So until Q1 I expect this video will get a lot of views!.
