Nokia Store Regent Street To Close!
As a Nokia fan it is a sad day today where we find out that in Q1 2010 (Jan/Feb/Mar) the flagship Nokia store in Regent Street, London will be closing it’s doors for the final time.
Reports of slow sales (plus the fact Nokia have problems recently with delaying handsets) have not helped the store, plus the fact you can order many deals online or pick up from a different retail store like Carphone Warehouse at cheaper prices at times.
Personally I am sad to hear the news of the closure as every time I visited London I would have a browse around the store and the staff in there were helpful when I spoke to them and recently I met Adam who is behind the Facebook and Twitter accounts for the store who was very friendly and we had a good chat about the N900 launch before it went on sale.

Mobile Today have said:
Nokia is closing its flagship Regent Street store, after disappointing sales.
The manufacturer will close the store, which it has resided in for just two years, in the first quarter of 2010.
Nokia has seven other stores including a flagship at Heathrow’s Terminal 5, but said it had no plans for another London store at present.
In a statement Nokia said: ‘Nokia is crystallising its branded retail strategy, aiming at improving operational efficiency of its retail network. This requires revamping of the retail network.’
30 employees are now in consultation and other roles are being sought for them within the company.
If anyone from the Nokia Store come across this page I personally want to wish you all the best in any job you move on to, working in the phone industry myself I know it can be hard times recently so good luck to you all!

Good riddance to bad rubbish…..I practically lived in that store through the summer of 2009 trying to get my 6700 fixed. Cock up after cock up, surly staff and extremely bad service. I had to email the head office in Finland to get a result. And there were always more staff than customers in that cavernous oversized store. They got what they deserved….
