Nokia Need To Step Up
When it comes to digital camera’s a lot of people think that the more megapixels you have, the better quality photo you have, But as I found out in more detail when touring the Carl Zeiss factory, that is not always the case.
More megapixels means more noise so you need a good quality lens to produce sharp and clear photos. Nokia have for a long time now pushed out 5 megapixel camera phones as the new standard and for quite some time and have been playing catch up to the 8 megapixel phones like the Sony Ericsson C905 and Samsung Pixon, and also don’t for get that Sony Ericsson have their 12 megapixel phone ‘Satio’ already in the works for a October launch.
The Satio is not only high in pixels with a whopping 12 megapixel lens but also has a Xenon flash which many of us Nokia fans have been asking for ever since the N82 hit the streets nearly 2 years ago. There was also the 6220 Classic but this was never a top end device and with very little network support the 6220 was soon forgotten.
My problem with Nokia is they know Xenon offers better image quality in non traditional lighting conditions (anything apart from sunlight), this has been talked about time after time by other sites including Steve Litchfield from All About Symbian.
The Nokia N86 had a chance to make a real stamp on the mobile camera phone market and in some ways it already has, but not as much as it could have.
Just imagine for one minute a Nokia N86 with a Xenon flash!. I could quite easily say that such a device would be the leader in camera phones and would make other manufacturers green with envy but for some reason Nokia still continue to skip over Xenon and push for a Dual LED.
This following image was taken by Steve Litchfield on a Nokia N86
And this next one is taken on a Nokia 6220 which features a Xenon flash
Although the N86 does have a really good camera in all light conditions, you can still see the difference between the 2.
So Nokia….. if you are reading….PLEASE bring Xenon back into the range of your NSeries phones.

Agreed ! We totally need Xenon Flash back on Nseries devices. I dont know how Nokia can call the N86 an “imaging device” when it only has those silly little dual LED flashes. Here’s hoping !
