Same Old Nokia?

A quick post before heading out to work which i would be interested in hearing your comments on (you can post comments below this post)

Now for as long as i can remember I have been a Nokia fan…. i have tried other handsets from Windows Mobile and Sony Ericsson but within a few days have gone right back to Nokia.

This is because of the ease of use and the features they have.  But over the last week it really hit me how recently Nokia just seem to be using the 2+ year old N95 and adding a small change here or there and annoucning it as their new flagship market beating device.

First we had the N95 which to be fair was 1 of the most asked about phones EVER!.  Then came the upgrade to the N95 8GB fixing sodfteare bugs and adding a larger screen and fixed 8GB or memory….. surely that is enough?

No then came the N96 announced back in Feb 2008 but what does this flaship model offer over the older N95 8GB?…. what about a 8mp camera…… nope its the SAME camera on the other 2 models.  The 2 new additions are 16gb of memory which is nice but come on, all that time for a memory upgrade?

They also added DVB-H which has been a bit of a flop abroad and with the UK not even started to roll it out until the old TV signals get switched off.  So a pointless use for UK users really and after a 7 month wait finally the N96 is about to hit us in the UK (when the Samsung innov8 is already on sale with a 8mp camera already)

So have Nokia changed in those last 7 months?.  Nope, in step the Nokia N85 which is basicly a N96 with a few less features but the same design as the N96 has.

The Series 60 Touch has lost its steam with nothing being announced recently even with the iPhone 3G selling out all around the world and Google’s Android only months away.

As if that was not enough, The N78 then became the N79 only months after the orignal went on sale… can you see a pattern here?

Well that is my rant this morning…. my question to you is are you getting a little tired with Nokia taking months and months to annnounce the same features in a same design with maybe 1 or 2 small improvements?
